Simone flourish

I never in a million years could have predicted how this year would have changed us as a family. Where it took me.

A WORLD PANDEMIC?!

It was all so unprecedented. Nothing any of us has ever experienced. We couldn’t ask our parents how they did it in their day.. Nothing to go on. We just had to make it up as we went along.

A year ago, hubby & felt our theme for 2020 would be PRUNING & FLOURISH.

And how those two words became so real in every 👏🏼 single 👏🏼 aspect 👏🏼 of our lives.

We had to prune and cut off things/people/situations that were holding us back from living the full life & from limiting the amount of FLOURISHING we were capable of.

The pruning parts were HARD. Giving up and releasing sooooo many relationships. Letting go of possessions we didn’t need. Selling our first ever car was a tough one for hubby. Seeing our children’s anxiety and stress of this year physically affect their bodies and not being able to make it all better. Taking our kids out of the schools they so deeply loved, and letting go of the house we prayed for non stop for 2 years before we got it, and saying goodbye to family, not knowing when we’d see them again…

BUT … 🌼

This year brought about a flourish in me and my family that was nothing I did and everything He did for us.

Our family was kept safe from the virus. Our marriage thrived in lockdown and we fell in love all over again. We saved so much financially with removing our children from school and the petrol from driving to work and school, plus a promotion during lockdown, that we were able to finally get out of debt this year. And then out of nowhere we were able to move into my husband’s grandparents home that was so much bigger! Our homeschooling journey so far giving our children such an advantage in life, but also connect us a family so much closer, was hands-down my favourite part of 2020.

2020 has taken so much. There’s a lot I hated and cried nonstop tears about. But in looking back (might I say 2020-vision??) it has also given me so much. I didn’t think I would ever flourish this year. But I did.

So here’s to 2020. 🥂
I’m ready for 2021 🌼

.

Love,

Simone
